GLCA Catechism Review: Third Article of the Apostles’ Creed
Bible Verse Review: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” – Psalm 1:1-2 (GLCA Theme Verse for 2025-26 Academic Year)
Monday: Catechism Bible Story – Acts 2:42-47
The Holy Spirit creates and sustains our faith in Jesus. He is the One who keeps us in the one true faith. How does He do that eternally significant and important work? Read Acts 2:42-47. What did the believers in Jesus do together? Who was the Holy Spirit working in the hearts and lives of the believers?
Tuesday: Old Testament – Numbers 11:24-30
One of pastor’s favorite refrains is, “there is no such thing as a Spiritless Word or a Wordless Spirit.” The work of the Holy Spirit is always connected to the Word of God. According to verse 26, for what purpose did the Lord put some of the Spirit on the elders?
Wednesday: Second Reading – Acts 2:1-21
According to verse 8, what is the central miracle, or powerful working of God, at Pentecost? For what purpose did the Lord pour out His Spirit on the Holy apostles (cf. vv. 2-4)?
Thursday: Last Day of GLCA – Psalm 1:1-2
The Third Commandment teaches us that we should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching and His Word but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it. Read Psalm 1:3. To what does the Psalmist compare those who gladly hear and learn God’s Word? Read Psalm 1:4. To what does He compare those who despise it?
Friday: Holy Gospel – John 7:37-39
From His open heart, our crucified and risen Lord pours out His Holy Spirit in “rivers of living water” (v. 38). Where else do we see a connection between water and the Spirit in the Scriptures? Here are some key words to spark your imagination: hovering, descending, ark, Nicodemus.
