Bible Verse Memory: “The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore” – Psalm 121:7-8
Monday: Catechism Bible Story – Luke 11:5-13 We close the Lord’s Prayer by praising God our Father as the one who is able to do everything that we ask. We know the words of this prayer are pleasing to Him, since He Himself gave these words to us to pray (see Matt. 6:9-13). Jesus taught the people to ask their heavenly Father for the things they needed, just as a person in need asks a friend, or children ask their father. What kinds of gifts do earthly fathers give their children? What kinds of gifts does our heavenly Father give to us? – Luther’s Small Catechism for Kids, pg. 90
Tuesday: First Reading –Acts 1:12–26 What did the apostles “devote themselves to” immediately following Jesus’ Ascension? What were they waiting for?
Wednesday: Epistle – 1 John 5:9–15 Why should we pray with confidence? Do we ever pray alone? Why did the apostles write down their testimony? Why was the Bible written?
Thursday: The Ascension of Our Lord – Luke 24:44-53 On the same night when Jesus prayed the High Priestly Prayer for His disciples, He was also preparing His disciples for their future ministry and summarized His entire mission. Which words in John 16:28 speak of Jesus’ identity? His incarnation and birth? His ascension? Why is Jesus’ ascension necessary, according to John 16:5–7? – LCMS Worship Hymn of the Day Bible Study (Up Through Endless Ranks of Angels LSB 491)
Friday: Holy Gospel – John 17:11b–19 John 17 is an important chapter on prayer. This chapter is often called the “High Priestly Prayer.” In the Old Testament, one of the tasks of the temple priests was to lead the worshipers in prayer. Jesus is the perfect Priest who leads His people in prayer. The temple priests also offered up sacrifices for the people. Jesus prays for His disciples that they would be one with Him and with one another. How does Jesus become the answer to His own prayer?

The Conclusion of the Lord’s Prayer
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
What does this mean? This means that I should be certain that these petitions are pleasing to our Father in heaven, and are heard by Him; for He Himself has commanded us to pray in this way and has promised to hear us. Amen, amen means “yes, yes, it shall be so.”
