Bible Verse Memory: “The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore” – Psalm 121:7-8
Monday: Catechism Bible Story – Daniel 6
In the Seventh Petition of the Lord’s Prayer, we pray that God would protect and rescue us from the devil and from all evil, both now and forever. Read Daniel chapter 6. Evil men made a plan to trap faithful Daniel, but God helped Daniel stay faithful to Him, and He rescued Daniel from danger. What evil did the high officials plan against Daniel? How did God keep Daniel from evil? – Luther’s Small Catechism for Kids, pg. 87
Tuesday: First Reading – Acts 17:16–31
Paul confronted the men of Athens with their idols. They were so thorough in their worship of the “gods” that they had an altar to an unknown god. They had a backup plan just in case they missed a god. But there is no backup plan. There is only one way to reconcile with God: Jesus. What backup plans to you have in your life? What takes the place of God in your life? (Family Lectionary, pg. 136)
Wednesday: Epistle – 1 Peter 3:13–22
What is the reason for the hope that is in you? (3:18)
Thursday: Learning from the Saints – C.F.W. Walther, Theologian
Prayer: Almighty God, through Your servant C.F.W. Walther You brought Lutheran pilgrims from Germany to confess the true faith. May the priesthood of Your saints now receive the Gospel of a crucified and risen Savior in faith as they offer back to You in love sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving, for You live and reign with the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. – Celebrating the Saints, pg. 79
Friday: Holy Gospel – John 14:15–21
On the last couple of Sundays of the Easter season, we prepare to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. What activities of the Holy Spirit does Jesus promise? What special names does Jesus use for the Holy Spirit?
The Order of Meditation and Prayer
The sign of the cross + may be made by all in remembrance of their Baptism.

The Seventh Petition
But deliver us from evil.
What does this mean?
We pray in this petition, in summary, that our Father in heaven would rescue us from every evil of body and soul, possessions and reputation, and finally, when our last hour comes, give us a blessed end, and graciously take us from this valley of sorrow to Himself in heaven.
