Bible Verse Memory:
“Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” – John 3:5
Monday: Catechism Bible Study – Matthew 26:36-46
Even though Jesus knew how much He would suffer on the cross, He prayed for His Father’s will to be done. What was Jesus’ prayer to His Father in heaven? What was the will of the Father for Jesus? – Luther’s Small Catechism for Kids, pg. 75
Tuesday: Old Testament – Isaiah 50:4-9a
In fulfillment of the Suffering Servant’s words in Isaiah 50:7, Jesus “sets His face” (cf. Luke 9:51) toward Jerusalem where, out of loving obedience to His Father, He will give “His back to those who strike” and not hide “his face from disgrace.” (vs. 5-6). Read vv. 7-8. Where does Jesus find the resolution to do this? When/where is this suffering vindicated?
Wednesday: “Book of Job: Blessed be the Name of the Lord” Lenten Sermon Series – Job 38:1–11 (On the Same Date: Feast of the Annunciation of Our Lord)
Why do you think God waited so long to answer Job? Job and his friends were curved in on themselves. How do these verses broaden their horizon? How do they give you perspective? How has God spoken to you in your storms?
Thursday: Holy Gospel – John 12:20-43
On Palm Sunday, we see the great mystery of Passion of our Lord. “The hour has come for the Son of the Man to be glorified” (v.23) by being “lifted up from the earth,” (v. 32). Read vs. 33. Where do we see the glory of the Son of Man?
Friday: Epistle – Philippians 2:5-11
Although Jesus is fully God, He does not count equality with God “a thing to be grasped.” Instead, out of His great love for sinners, He “lets go of” those divine attributes that could have spared Him the disgrace of the cross. Read verse 9. Why does this act of humiliation result in the “bestowal” of the name that is above all names. Hint: what does the name Jesus mean? How is Jesus’ death his “living up to His name”? Read or sing LSB 444.

Lord’s Prayer 3rd Petition (All) + Explanation (2+)
The Third Petition
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
What does this mean?
The good and gracious will of God is done even without our prayer, but we pray in this petition that it may be done among us also.
How is God’s will done?
God’s will is done when He breaks and hinders every evil plan and purpose of the devil, the world, and our sinful nature, which do not want us to hallow God’s name or let His kingdom come; and when He strengthens and keeps us firm in His Word and faith until we die. This is His good and gracious will.
