Bible Verse Memory: “Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.” – 1 Corinthians 12:3

Monday: National Lutheran Schools Week – Psalm 98

The Psalmist writes, “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!” That means everyone — young and old — is invited to celebrate who God is and what He’s done for us. He made you, He loves you, and He’s always with you. That’s something worth shouting about! What’s something that God has given you or that He has done that makes you want to praise Him today?

Tuesday: Old Testament – Micah 6:1–8

The Lord tells His people, “I brought you up from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery” (Micah 6:4). By the sacrifice of His beloved Son, He has redeemed us from our slavery of sin and death; He has forgiven our transgressions by the shedding of His blood. Read vs. 8. What then are we Christians called to do in grateful response to God’s great mercy?

Wednesday: Epistle – 1 Corinthians 1:18–31

Christians never boast in their own righteous deeds. We never glory in what we do. Instead, we boast only in the incarnate and crucified Lord Jesus. He is “the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Cor. 1:24). He is our life and salvation, our “wisdom” and “righteousness and sanctification and redemption” (1 Cor. 1:30). In Jesus, we see God’s glory, and His glory shines through us. How does His glory shine through us? How do we make sure to always give Jesus’ glory?

Thursday: Catechism Bible Story – Paul Tells Lydia about Christ (Acts 16:13-15)

The Holy Spirit creates faith in people through the Gospel (the promise of forgiveness because of Jesus’ sacrifice) so they believe that Jesus loves them and died for their sins. How did Lydia become a believer? What did Lydia do after she was baptized?

Friday: Holy Gospel – Matthew 5:1–12

God manifests His glory in the most unexpected ways – in the humility and weakness of Christ crucified on the cross. How does suffering for being a Christian give God glory? What promises are there for those who suffer for the name of Jesus?

The Order of Meditation and Prayer

The sign of the cross + may be made by all in remembrance of their Baptism.

Invocation

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

What is the 3rd Article of the Apostles’ Creed?

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

What does this mean (Part 1)?

I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith.
