Bible Verse Memory (Jr Confirmation Only): Table of Duties – “To Children”
Certain passages of Scripture for various holy orders and positions, admonishing them about their duties and responsibilities.
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and your mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1–3
Monday: Commemoration of Patrick, Missionary to Ireland –
Prayer: “Almighty God, You chose Your servant Patrick to be a missionary to the Irish people who were wandering in darkness and error. You bound unto them the trinitarian name through Baptism and faith that they might dwell in the light of Christ. Bind unto us this same strong name of the Trinity as we remember our Baptism and walk in His light, that we may come to dwell at last in the eternal light of the presence of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Tuesday: Old Testament – Ezekiel 33:7–20 – Being called to repentance can be incredibly uncomfortable. To have your sins pointed out is anything but enjoyable. However, according to verse 11, what is the end goal repentance? Why does God want you to see the seriousness of your sin?
Wednesday: Lenten Midweek – “Crosswords” (John 19:25‒27) – Jesus is undergoing the most extreme suffering imaginable as He hangs dying on the cross. His pain is literally excruciating—meaning it comes from the experience of being crucified. His torment and agony are unspeakable. Yet in the midst of all of this, what do these words show He is most concerned about? Instead of thinking about His own dire condition, who is on His mind? Even as He suffers, He keeps the Law. Which Commandment?
Thursday: Holy Gospel – Luke 13:1–9 – Much like those who go up to Jesus to tell him about those “terrible Galileans” whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifice, we are often tempted to downplay the seriousness of our sin by comparing ourselves to others. How does Jesus respond?
Friday: Epistle – 1 Corinthians 10:1–13 – According to verse 11, why did God give us the Bible (the Scripture)?
