Bible Verse Memory: “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Monday: Catechism – Genesis 3:1-19

Every century has been filled with its own evils – diseases, mass killings, tortures, and horrible abuses inflicted upon human beings. What do people identify as the various causes of evil in our world? Read Genesis 3:1-19. What does this account of Adam and Eve say about why there is evil in this world? As Christians, we pray that God would rescue us from the evil one both now and forever. What evils do I see in the world for which I need to pray, “Lord, deliver us!”? – 2017 LCMS Catechism with Explanation, pg 274

Tuesday: First Reading – Acts 3:11-21

St. Peter calls the people to repent, so that their “sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord”(Acts 3:19–20). Where do we go to be refreshed from the presence of the Lord?

Wednesday: Epistle – 1 John 3:1-7

God calls us His children, and so we are. Even if what we will be has not yet appeared. Notice, it doesn’t say that we are on our way to being God’s children, or that we will become His children when we don’t struggle with sin any longer. We already are His children! How does the fact that you are God’s child, even when you don’t act like it bring you hope?

Thursday: Holy Gospel – Luke 24:36-49

We confess that we believe in the resurrection of the body. That’s the whole point of Easter. The BODY of Jesus is risen. The BODILY resurrection of Jesus guarantees our BODILY resurrection. How does Jesus show the importance of his bodily resurrection in this appearance to His disciples? What do bodies do that spirits don’t?

Friday: I Am Jesus’ Little Lamb (740)

Sheep are safe and secure when they are with their shepherd. It’s the shepherd’s job to guide, protect, and feed the sheep. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep. That’s how much He loves you! He died and then rose again. Not even death can stop Him from keeping you safe! Sing LSB 740.

But deliver us from evil.

What does this mean?
